Arrowhead Park Early College High School Advances to 2025 State Mock Trial Competition

The Black Team placed 1st, and the Red Team came in 5th at the Regional Mock Trial Competition this past weekend. These talented students will advance to the Mock Trial State Competition on March 28 and 29.

Mock Trial is an innovative, hands-on experience in the law for high school students of all ages and abilities. Each year, hundreds of New Mexico teenagers, working with their teacher advisors and attorney coaches, research, study, and prepare a hypothetical courtroom trial involving issues that are both important and interesting to young people.

The state finals competition will take place in Albuquerque, where 16 teams will compete in four rounds (2 on Friday and 2 on Saturday). Each team will present both sides at least once.

Results will be calculated, and trophies will be awarded to the top three teams, courtroom artists, and reporters at an Awards Ceremony following Round 4. Individual awards will also be given to students selected by a judging panel as an Outstanding Witness or Attorney.

In addition, the two students who earn the greatest number of points as an attorney or a witness during the four rounds will be named the Zamzok Most Outstanding Attorney and Zamzok Most Outstanding Witness and will receive $500 in cash awards funded by Albuquerque attorney Larry Zamzok.

The top team, courtroom artist, and courtroom journalist will travel to compete in the National Competition in May.
